The backbox for recessed installation of 8 in. speakers shall be Lowell Model P875X-4, which shall measure 8.813 in. square x 4 in. deep. It shall be formed from 20-gauge steel, welded and finished in black powder epoxy paint. It shall be undercoated and have a foam pad to eliminate acoustic and mechanical resonance. It shall feature .5–.75 in. knockouts for conduit on four sides and slots for depth adjustment on two sides. It shall have recessed mounting tabs with 8-32 U-clips for grille installation.
